Roads & connections

A new route. A familiar name.

The route west of town has an official name: Bob Cornett Parkway. The designation honors the former Cresson mayor and applies to the US 377 relief route.

TxDOT reports that the three-mile, four-lane divided bypass reached substantial completion in November 2024. The $61 million project gives through traffic a route around the old town-center bottleneck.

The honorary name took effect September 1, 2025. The historic SH 171 / Business 377 crossroads remains part of Cresson's story; it is not the same location as the bypass.

Status: bypass substantially complete. This is existing infrastructure, not a future opening announcement.
