What comes next for Granbury ISD schools?
Updated October 21, 2026 · Figures and recommendations retain their source dates
Update · October 21, 2026
Granbury ISD’s October 20 enrollment report counts 7,697 students across the district, seven fewer than the October 13 total of 7,704. The report compares that with 7,851 students on October 21, 2025—a decrease of 154, or about 2.0 percent. These are districtwide enrollment figures, not a count of children living in Cresson, and they do not establish the reason for the change.
The district has posted the Future Planning Committee’s October 19 board-recommendation presentation. It outlines six advisory recommendations and encourages implementation over the next one to three years, with timing left to trustees and administrators. The current BoardBook agenda places the committee report under District Reports. The presentation and agenda do not establish approval of a bond, an asset sale or an operating change; a final trustee outcome remains unverified in the records reviewed as of October 21.

Earlier record · the October 19 agenda
Granbury ISD’s current BoardBook agenda and public notice place the Future Planning Committee Recommendation Report under District Reports, item 10a. The revised meeting memo says Report only.
The district meeting page still links an older October 13 notice that labels the item discussion/action. Those documents differ. The current report listing does not establish a trustee decision, a canceled vote or an adopted plan.
The October 19 notice scheduled closed session at 5 p.m. and open session at 6 p.m. in the district Board Room, 217 N. Jones St., Granbury. These are historical meeting arrangements, not an upcoming event.
Six advisory recommendations
The district-posted October 13 committee summary describes consensus on six recommendations:
- Study bus routing and possible transportation outsourcing.
- Continue reviewing programs and personnel against enrollment and outcomes.
- Evaluate possible district asset sales.
- Seek donations and community support for unfunded needs.
- Develop a sustainable long-range financial plan with trustees and administrators.
- Explore and seek a streamlined bond with multiple propositions.
These are committee recommendations. They do not establish an adopted bond amount, election, program cut, asset sale or transportation contract.
Earlier enrollment comparison · October 13
The October 13 enrollment report counts 7,704 students, unchanged from October 6. Its year-earlier comparison is 7,877 on October 14, 2025: 173 fewer, or about 2.2%, calculated from those snapshots.
These totals cover Granbury ISD, rather than Cresson-resident students. They are not city population, average daily attendance or an explanation of why enrollment changed. The earlier published October 6 comparison—7,704 versus 7,891 on October 7, 2025—remains a valid separately dated comparison.
Facility needs and decisions remain distinct
The September 29 committee summary discussed roughly $141.2 million in facility needs. That is dated needs-assessment context, not an approved construction program or adopted bond amount.
Cresson families whose homes are in Granbury ISD can follow the report and any later trustee decisions. No campus-assignment change for a Cresson student is established by these materials; city and school boundaries differ.
